Graffiti Flower Garden

Graffiti Flower Garden
By Gail McNaughton

I have added numerous flowers on top of the rug which may or may not be apparent to you. I am leaving the flowered masking tape border as it is as it blends with the rug. The turquoise/green (wool blanket) was given to me by a Mennonite woman where my Aunt lives. My sister gave me the orange plaid that goes around the yellow flannel flowered material as this was the last of curtains my Dad had in his office downtown Toronto, years ago. The blue flowers are made out of a shrunk sweater. The red and pink flowers I made with my Daisy Hazel’s Loom that I’ve had for 30 or more years. There are small mounds and these have silk scarves hooked in them and blue/turquoise flannel (blanket) hooked around each. The sunflower has both wool and silk scarves in it surrounded by the yellow flowered flannel material. This has been hooked on burlap that had a pattern on it that I purchased at a local nursery. This burlap is for wrapping trees or other uses. To date, this is the most eccentric rug hooking that I’ve made and it has been hours of work. I am calling it “Graffiti Flower Garden”. As I am a Doodle Artist, “Graffiti” is a form of Doodling.

Flowercat’s Nurturing Garden

Drawn at the Breast show, Windemere Manor, April 6, 2013

Flowercat is a very special magical cat who is an old soul with lots of healing energy and she hangs around the garden to help those who need love, support and nurturing.  She has big paws to wrap around you,  She will hug you close to her heart.  She will help you grow like the bulbs that magically set themselves in motion to mature into blossoming flowers and take their rightful place in the world.  She just tells you to sit and bring a cup of tea to the table she has set out for you.  She is waiting patiently for you to ask for help.  When you take a seat, she will know that you are ready.

Enjoy Your Time With Friends In The Healing Heart Garden

Drawn at the Breast Show, Windemere Manor, April 6, 2013

Just invite a friend over for a cup of tea and the two of you can talk openly in the garden.  The flowers and plants will listen and nod their heads.  Pick some vegetables like carrots and as they are good for your eyes, perhaps you will see things more clearly through your third eye.

There Are Many Healing Hands That Will Help You

This doodle art was drawn at The Breast Show on April 6, 2013 at Windemere Manor.

There are always those who will come forward in your time of need but many don’t know you need help.  Be grateful that there are those who will show intuitively from many corners of your life.  Just go with the flow.  Remember a peaceful fountain that is likened to the source of energy that will assist in your healing.

We women are very talented and have many faces but we skip to a beat of our own making so that we can do it all to the degree that we want to.  Ever noticed that some days you have an overload of faces and other days you solidify just one.  We are grounded in the earth, the sky, the sunshine and love that surrounds us.  When we are in our own feeling of grace we grow flowers that are picked by other people to give them a piece of our energy and exuberance to help them in their own journey.  Many of us give spiritual skipping ropes to others so they too can enjoy the freedom and self expression of being themselves.

Lost Soul

This doodle art is dedicated to all those people who feel lost.  The inspiration I give you is that “this too will pass”.  There is a sun in the sky that is big, bright, beautiful and dependable and a brightly coloured rainbow that brings such pleasure to those who see it.  Yes there is thunder and lightening and we cry.  We cry in desperation to make changes but we are a Lost Soul and don’t know how.  Just go with the flow and don’t resist the flow.  Never fear, there are those who will reach out and help you.  They have sunny dispositions and send lots of positive thoughts your way as well as pure and simple heart-felt love.  They are just like you and they honour your humanity.  They have joy and hope in their hearts.  The drops from crying are collected in a tea cup and when you drink the essence of who you are, you heal yourself for you have self acceptance.  The clouds overhead each have a silver lining of Love, Prayer, Light, Peace and most of all Forgiveness so even on a cloudy day the sun is shining underneath.  Forgive yourself first for it stunts your growth.  You want to grow as tall as you can be so let your friends help you to help yourself.

Zen Flower

Zen Flower represents beauty at its best in a cocoon of love surrounded by the bubbles of the universe and then friends.  Zen teachings calm the mind, body and soul to be one with the universe.  When allowed to transcend, the person finds enlightenment in their life because they are more a part of the whole than being one onto him or herself.  The way to find Zen is through Love and Joy.

Surprise It’s Me Doodle Art

Surprise It’s Me

This sunflower is flourishing with Mommy Millie Bear in disguise, even at the end of the season when most are fading away and their heads are drooping and their seeds falling out, Mommy Millie Bear is steadfast, perhaps because Halloween is approaching.  With the rain the sunflowers begin to get mushy and their large stocks have to be dug out with a shovel with some muscle attached.  My Mom, Millie, was a real prankster so this is dedicated to her as she is personified as a doodle character.  She is so happy pretending to be a flower and thinks that she is pulling the wool over our eyes.  My Mom hated plants in the house and flowers that she had to tend to but she has manifested herself in the garden of her followers playing a trick and that’s just like her.

The Flower Girl

I was thinking about all The Flower Girls in life – those that stand by others and support them.  They are a breath of fresh air of encouragement to others.  They support our efforts.  They brighten up our lives.  They stand in for us and remind us who we are when we forget.  My flower girls are my friends and you are one of them.
