“The Teapot Song” (commonly known as “I’m a Little Teapot”) is a song describing the heating and pouring of a teapot or tea kettle. The song was originally written by George Harold Sanders and Clarence Z. Kelley and published in 1939.[1]Ronnie Kemper is the singer who first sang this song and is represented in this photograph.

Creation

Clarence Kelley and his wife ran a dance school for children, which taught the “Waltz Clog”, a popular and easy-to-learn tap routine. This routine, however, proved too difficult for the younger students to master. To solve this problem, George Sanders wrote The Teapot Song, which required minimal skill and encouraged natural pantomime. Both the song and its accompanying dance, the “Teapot Tip”, became enormously popular in America and overseas.[2]

Song Text

I’m a little teapot,

Short and stout,

Here is my handle (one hand on hip),

Here is my spout (other arm out with elbow and wrist bent),

When I get all steamed up,

Hear me shout,

Tip me over and pour me out! (lean over toward spout)

Second verse:

I’m a special teapot,

Yes, it’s true,

Here’s an example of what I can do,

I can turn my handle into a spout, (switch arms)

Tip me over and pour me out!

The Meals On Wheels program promotes health and supports independence by delivering nutritious, affordable meals to seniors and adults with disabilities.  Meals can be ordered for short or long term periods of time.  They benefit those who may have a difficult time cooking and shopping.

Meals to over 70 clients are delivered to clients in Middlesex-Elgin on a daily basis from several locations.

Spiders – Halloween Is My Season

I bought this spider necklace and earring set at Sherri’s on Talbot Street.   Yes, I’m stirring gravy and drinking wine at our friends in Ailsa Craig.   This doodle art I specifically did for Heather my good friend in Mississauga but it can be for “any friend”.  Cards are a lovely way to say “Hello”.  If you want boxed sets as Christmas gifts (or any time).  Heather has already order 2 boxes as Christmas gifts for friends.  Each box will contain 5 cards (in plastic jackets with envelopes) for $15.00.  I’ll put them in white boxes and tie up with black ribbon.  I can accommodate a variety of doodle art as well.  It is a fun, happy and colourful gift that is useful.

Business Sample Show 2011

Bob and Gail McNaughton participated in the Business Sample Show at St. Anne’s Centre on October 19, 2011 Sponsored by the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce.  They had expected a larger crowd of people but given a dreary night with wind and rain, the attendance was good and who is supposed to be there will always show up.  Regardless of who attended, including the Chamber members and the public, people mingled and visited the vendor booths.  At the Dog & Pony booth, the gift that was given out was one of three greeting cards prepared by Gail  from her doodle art collection.  Each card had a caption on the bottom – “Halloween”, “The Dream Lady Of Joy & Love” or “Pink Is The Colour Of Hope”.  There were those who loved certain cards so this is the one that they selected.  Thanks to all those who attended our booth.  Enjoy your greeting card and remember Dog & Pony Productions Inc., The Photographic Heart and our new division, Social Media COO.  Send your greeting card to someone who you want to contact and send it with love and endearment.  We all need a hug!

A Special Day For Fleecy—Her First Birthday

Fleecy’s First Birthday was on Saturday, October 1, 2011. I still remember bringing her home wrapped up in a blanket and all the midnight visits with her in the side yard, all the pulling of tablecloths, all the boisterous activities, the puppy classes, time out in the kennel, eating things she shouldn’t and lovely walks and talks. Her positive, playful nature and a lovely disposition make her friends with everyone. Her buddies, Poppy and Panda Bear sit with her routinely in the kitchen and she continues to play with Poppy regularly. The cats can escape through the baby gates across our two kitchen doors but have to really struggle now to get through them.

It was a cool, overcast day in the morning but turned warmer with intermittent sunshine in the afternoon. We sang Happy Birthday to her in the morning and gave her two new plastic squeaky toys—a colourful fully loaded hot dog and a pink Cinderella high-heeled shoe. In the afternoon we walked around Lake Margaret enjoying the sunshine and allowing her to be off the leash where we could. We started from our usual parking spot in Pinafore Park and walked to the back of the park and followed the Lake Margaret trail around the lake for the 1.15 km loop. There were lots of geese on the Lake. We kept her on the leash so she wouldn’t chase them but Bob and Fleecy walking on the path unnerved them and off they flew to congregate on the lake. We walked back to the car with our faces in sunshine and took Fleecy to Shaw’s Ice Cream for an ice cream treat and a drink of water. She lapped down her Vanilla ice cream and seemed to enjoy it right to the last lick. I had Gold Medal Ribbon in a sugar cone and Bob had a two-tier Caramel Apple Pie and Raspberry Chocolate in a waffle cone. We took many pictures of our day with Fleecy to remember her first birthday!
